March-Westin beat all odds Wednesday night as they plowed through the playoff bracket on their way to the championship series.
The first game of the night was against Rollos, the team that sent Westin to the loser’s bracket in the first game of the playoffs. MW would not allow that early playoff loss to go unavenged.
MW was led by unstoppable hitting, such as Scott’s in-the-park grand slam and solid hit after solid hit by fellow former Lewis County resident Dave. Westin also received a strong outing from the bullpen with Adam replacing James on the mound, as James was unable to attend the nights games.
Jackson returned to the lineup for Wednesdays run at the championship, although it took a little bit for him to shake off the rust as he took a big swing at his first pitch, connecting with nothing but air. However Jackson continued his consistent play in the field at SS, then in later games moving to RC as March-Westin rearranged their defense to keep fresh players in key positions.
Westin continued their success, showing no signs of fatigue as they took on Jordans Auto Parts in the championship series. Because the playoffs are double elimination, and Jordans failure to lose a game to this point MW would have to beat them twice in order to become champions.
The first game was hard fought, with numerous lead changes. Eventually requiring extra innings to determine a winner. March-Westin, with their home field advantage, was able to take the lead in the bottom of the 8th, forcing a second and final game against Jordans.
MW continued to ride the emotional charge as they started off their third game of the evening right where they had left off, showcasing solid defense and amazing hitting. All Jordans could do was bicker amongst themselves as they sensed victory slipping from their hands to a team who was still going strong in spite of this being their fifth game in just two days.
When the evening pulled to a close, March-Westin had played 22 innings straight of softball, and won their first championship.
Other notable performances for the night include (but are not limited to) Nicks third 3-run homerun in two days. Mark was awarded the web-gem award of the night with his diving catch in left-center field. Wimer had a clutch triple in the final game. And Dave had a very heads up play as he threw out a runner at first from shortstop when the runner casually “made the turn†towards second base.
All March-Westin team members are instructed to contact Coach Tom for details on the award dinner.

Wow. I see how a big win goes to a players head. Toot your own horn. What about my in-the-park HR or my triple? What about Jenning’s walks to get on base for us? What about Dave’s solid hits? Everyone hit well, it is a shame that our reporter is so opinionated and biased that the FACTS get twisted about… can you say no food for Scott?

You are one of the many who helped provide me with my talking points, and I don’t remember any talk of you hitting a home run.
Dave is mentioned in the third paragraph.
The solid hitting by all is indirectly mentioned to in comments like “MW…. Showcasing solid defense and amazing hittingâ€.

Haha, well the hits get bigger as time passes… just like Nicks belly. Oh, that was a low blow. We did play pretty well, didn’t we? Mark was an All-Star in the field. Jennings was solid until his age caught up to him… Of course I made myself AH because I didn’t have the stamina to play the field and offense. My defense was average but I knew I could help with some key hits… Thanks goodness it worked out or the mutiny mentioned earlier in the season might have taken place! Good work everyone!
