Yahoo! Movie Recommendations 0

Posted by Scott in Site News (Monday March 21, 2005 at 2:08 am)

Yahoo! is now testing a movie recommendation site where you pick movies that you have watched and rate them. Yahoo! then decides what movies you will probably like based on other movies that you said you liked.

It is still in its early stages but already looks promising. I have used similar websites for tv shows (and those of you with a Tivo are already familiar with this type of service).

Well at least the history channel does not play into stereotypes.

Today’s lineup (St Patrick’s Day) on The History Channel:

Hands on History: Brewing
Rumrunners, Moonshiners and Bootleggers
Modern Marvels: Distilleries
Modern Marvels: Saloons

In a related story, click here to find out the true meaning of Saint Patrick’s Day (thanks Nick).

Quiet on the web log 0

Posted by Scott in Site News (Thursday March 17, 2005 at 2:11 am)

Hey everyone, sorry again for my lack of posts. I just have not stumbled on anything too exciting recently.

But just so you can have a recent remind of my sheer brilliance, kev and I recently finished a little project. We successfully installed a 200gb hard drive in our xbox. This allows us (among other things) to copy our purchased games to the hard drive at the click of a button. By copying the discs to the hard drive no only do you not have to go digging for a video game disk, or worry about it getting scratched. It also greatly reduces the loading times. Many games now bring back memories of the n64 when the games were stored on cartridges and loading times were short, if they occurred at all. We estimate we can fit about 30-40 games on our newly improved xbox.

Good times.

In other news, I may actually have a job in the very near future. Ill post more when things are more offical.

Quiet on the home front… 0

I know I have not had any entries for several days now, I apologize. I have been pretty busy with job interviews and things like that (also wvu’s recent success in the big east tournament has not helped either).

But hopefully I’ll have something interesting to share with you guys soon.

Evidently, this was ‘news’ some time ago, but I had never heard of him so I thought it was cool, thus I share it with you:

WebCam Location 0

Posted by Scott in Site News (Wednesday March 2, 2005 at 4:57 am)

The last few days I have had my webcam aimed out my window (in hopes that the road conditions would get very severe and give you guys a show).

So that brings me to my question:
What should be my next webcam location?

Give suggestions here using the comments section.

Snow…? 0

There better be a considerable amount of snow on the ground when I get up in the morning or the weather forecasters are fired!
