How in the world could we possibly reelect our current Mountaineer!? I’m sure he is a great guy’ no I take that back, I’m betting that he is a total dork but I’m sure he is very intelligent and academically is probably a good representative for the school’ However I think he makes a horrible Mountaineer. He is too small, can’t grow a beard, his voice sounds like he is 8 years old and he is obviously not very coordinated.

I feel that the mountaineer (if it is a guy) should look like a stereotypical mountaineer. He should be muscular, rugged, be able to grow a beard and look as though, if needed, he could actually go out and hunt for his dinner.

And based on the crowd’s reaction to his re-election announcement I am not the only person that feels this way.

So how could this travesty take place? This university has over 20,000 students, and this is the best we can find?!

Thingamabob malfunction. 0

Posted by Scott in Site News (Wednesday February 23, 2005 at 2:48 am)

Well we had some excitement this evening…. One of the bolts in the water hookup thingamabob for our washing machine decided to fail. This caused a stream of water about the thickness of a typical garden hose to begin shooting upwards and across the room.

Steve and I initially noticed the sound of a pressurized water spray while sitting in our living room and went to investigate. Upon realization of what was going on I immediately went into crisis management mode as I scrambled to notify the proper authorities and shut off the water using the shutoff valves located in our closet (think Keanu Reeves in the matrix as he doges the bullets). All the while steve was in a panic stricken stare at the events unfolding before him (visualize one of the sims characters when something catches on fire).

When all was said and done (the events unfolded in roughly 15 seconds), we were left no running water and about a quarter inch of standing water in our laundry room.

Chris, our landlord, was able to find a temporary bolt to insert into the hookup so we could once again turn on our water. A repair crew is scheduled to show up tomorrow to repair the faulty thingamabob.

Kevin Rose Exclusive – Paris Hilton and Vin Diesel’s Voicemail Hacked 0

This is a copy and paste of the blog article on Kevin Rose’s site:

Paris Hilton and Vin Diesel’s Voicemail Hacked
**EXCLUSIVE** This is an exclusive you will not see anywhere else. As many of you know, yesterday Paris Hilton’s T-Mobile address book was stolen and posted online. But what you don’t know is, shortly thereafter a hacker gained access to both Paris’ and Vin’s private saved voicemail messages. I was contacted anonymously and shown proof of the hacker’s ability to access these private saved voicemails.

The hack is a simple one that I duplicated easily. If you have Sprint or T-Mobile and have auto voicemail login enabled, you are vulnerable to this type of attack. I have auto voicemail login enabled because I hate entering my voicemail PIN number each time I want to check my messages.

The voicemail authentication system is simple. It uses caller ID to validate the originating number – if the caller ID matches your cell phone number (ie. your cell phone calling in to check your voicemail messages), it will log you in automatically.

This system has worked great for the last few years. Well, that is until the advent of commercial caller ID spoofing systems such as CovertCall and Telespoof. For those not in-the-know, caller ID spoofing allows you to change your caller ID number to anything you like. To hack myself, I simply logged into CovertCall and placed a spoofed call to my cell phone. The spoofed call was to my cell phone, from my cell phone, forwarded to a pay phone. Sprint (my provider) thought I was calling from my cell, and automatically logged me in (even though I was performing this from a pay phone down the street).

As you can see, the hacker used the same method to access Paris Hilton’s and Vin Diesel’s private voicemails. CovertCall offers free call recording, so the hacker was also able to save the voicemails to disk (I wouldn’t have believed it, had I not heard them myself). From what they tell me, of the entire list only those two accounts used the auto login method. NOTE: This article is for informational purposes only – accessing someone’s voicemail without their consent is highly illegal.

Has anyone tried one of the M3 razors? I ask because to me there is something terrifying about holding three vibrating razor sharp razors (in case you didn’t know that’s where razors get their name, cause they are as sharp as razors) to my face!

Life on Mars? 0

Space.com is reporting that “a pair of NASA scientists told a group of space officials at a private meeting here Sunday that they have found strong evidence that life may exist today on Mars, hidden away in caves and sustained by pockets of water.”
